This story may only interest a couple of us but read it anyway cause that might be you...

If you like The Flaming Lips, Robots, the color Pink (gaaaaay), Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, or Broadway musicals (fagalist?), then this story might interest you.

Apparently Aaron Sorkin, who writes the incredibly awesome show Studio 60 on the Sunset strip, is going to write a Broadway show based on the incredibly awesome Flaming Lips album Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots.

I read this and immediately imagined an awesome Broadway salute to Japanese anime with giant robots and rock music. Basically I imagined FLCL: The Musical (now thats an idea! I should write to the homo who created Cats about this).

Apparently, though, there is going to be some deeper meaning beneath all this craziness. This is the description:

"this girl, the Yoshimi character, is dying of something. And these two guys are battling to come visit her in the hospital. And as one of the boyfriends envisions trying to save the girl, he enters this other dimension where Yoshimi is this Japanese warrior and the pink robots are an incarnation of her disease."

Sounds awesome but not crazy awesome. Seriously, Cats dude, call me. I've got big ideas.

They Really Really Want Me To Play This Game...

So Command and Conquer 3 is out. I can't get this game because I already have one money-sucking, attention-grabbing, addiction that I have to keep under control. I don't need another one. But the evil geniuses behind Electronic Arts have aimed their game directly at me and people like me. C&C's full motion video sequences have always been good and as they and the videogame industry have grown in fame, they have hired more and more actors we recognize. But it used to be they were actors who we saw and thought, "wait where do I know that guy from." This time they have taken some well-known actors from series that have become very popular even though they mainly appeal to geeks like me.

They have they have the hot Asian chick and the hot blond from the awesome series Battlestar Galactica, the bald captain from Starship Troopers, Lando Calrisian, and Sawyer from LOST.

I mean if they had thrown in the Asian guy from Heroes and River or Mal from Firefly it would be like putting Neto Must Buy This Game on the box.

The Truth About Daylight Savings Time...

Many believe that daylight savings time was proposed by farmers or factory managers to get more sunlight hours for working and saving energy. This is a myth. The truth (according to Wikipedia) is that William Willet first proposed daylight savings time because he was an avid golfer and he hated having to stop playing at sunset. In fact, Daylight Savings Time proved so unpopular among farmers that they got congress to repeal it but the measure was vetoed twice by Woodrow Wilson who was also a fan of golf.

So the next time you oversleep because you forgot to change your clock. Or you show up to work feeling tired because you lost an hour of sleep into the air, then give a loud "Fuck You!" to Tiger Woods.

desaparecidos, no really, desaparecidos++::...

so i was there the other day listening to a band i really enjoy called desaparecidos, and well theyre pretty badass. nevertheless i was wondering if they had a new album; searching the net you find that the frontman is none other than the guy from bright eyes (guaaaaackalaaaa) and the fucker said that he disbanded the band because it was drawing too much attention, leading me to say:
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU, YOU SELF ABSORBED CUNT OF A MAN? HAVE YOU ANY IDEA THE FAN BASE YOUR RIDICULOUS OTHER BAND HAS? YOU GOD FUCKING IDIOT! (then i rip his vocal cords, thru his anus)
and to that i rest my case.

I am sick and I am Tired

Would you like to see how disgusting we as a nation have gotten? Would you like to see how terrible we as a people have become? We are no longer a just society. We are no longer good people; we are no longer the great country that was once “governed by its people”. If anything we are a shadow what was once a great dream of our forefathers. We have become so repugnant in our apathy we have willingly given up our basic freedoms for a false sense of security. Not only have we been spoon fed the same lies, over and over and over again, but we basically just said “thank you sir, may I have another?” And While we sit here, contemplating what to do with the rest of our lives, innocent people are dying, innocent people are suffering, innocent people are rotting in some small cell, not allowed a fair trial, or even meet with their family or even a defense lawyer!

When I think of the people that have fought for this nation, nay, I always wonder was going through the minds of our nation’s first leaders, when they were signing the declaration of independence, and then when they were signing the Constitution. Just close your eyes for a moment, breathe, and think for a moment; what do you think was going through their minds when they wrote the preamble to the declaration of independence:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.

Nobody really does talk like that these days. But do you know what I think was going through their minds? They were tired, they had finally tried every other possible solution they could think of with the King and they couldn’t find common ground. And just like now, the British were stomping on their freedoms as well; infringing on their privacy, and putting too much on military spending whilst taxing them and giving it all to the rich. Now am I saying we should start a revolution? God no, but I am also tired, I’m tired that we are easily swayed by biased media. I’m tired of the fact that in this nation, you are either democrat or republican, conservative or liberal, red or blue, I am tired of the fact that we have given the biggest voice in our government to the enterprises. But what I’m MOST tired of is that when someone tries to speak out against the policies that are being run in government these days they are deemed unpatriotic.

Are you kidding me? That is insane! That is the purpose of the people, to always keep the government in check, and to make sure that it is doing its job correctly. Not to walk around like a mindless drone and to put complete faith in the government. And you know what happens when you do that? David Hicks is what happens. He just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he was arrested and detained for five years, without meeting with a lawyer, or his family. Now, as the first person to be charged under the new laws in the military commissions act (that means that he was arrested for a law that wasn’t even around at the time, as in they made up a law to charge him with, constitutional fucking no no), and charge him with “providing terrorist material”. Whether they deem it unlawful for him to be charged under these laws or not, the administration will most likely then find another law to charge him under, and he is back to square one. Do you know what this means? That under the Military Commissions act, the United States Government, can deem you an enemy combatant, whether you are a foreign national or an American citizen, hold you for however long they want, and place some bogus charge on you like “providing terrorist material”. Just reading that article made my stomach curl. And it should make yours too, these are the kind of things that you read in history books, or you see in movies, these shouldn’t be the kind of things that happen in our “great nation”. But they do, they are real, and they are apparent, and we have to do something about it.



Edit: David Hicks has actually met with his lawyers, although his lawyers don't have full access to the the military case file.
