Kenedy Avenue
So, Neto knew i was gonna write a song about the stoplight on Kenedy and 6th here in Kingsville, and I think I've finally finished it. If you've ever driven down 6th, and ever been stopped by the light at Kenedy, you know it stays red for a really long time. So here are the lyrics, and hopefully my band will have the music finished pretty soon. Then maybe we'll record it...
Kenedy Avenue
Bathed in this red light; two eyes in the dark night
Trapped in a breathing shell; with a spotlight on my own hell
I'm left to mutinous thoughts; creating battles I haven't fought
A glimpse of green to set me free; still this red is all I see
Bathed in this stop light; my mind begins its long fight
This battle won't go well; *in 5 minutes of my own hell*
My body's anchored to this spot; as I drift in spilled thoughts
A glimpse of green to set me free; still this red is all I see
TO THE LIGHTS ON KENEDY AVENUE,
WHY WON'T YOU CHANGE?
WHY CAN'T I CHANGE?
I noticed I'm not changing; like the lights, stuck and hanging
I noticed I'm not content; I've failed myself once again
And I lie awake at night; my thoughts prepared to fight
While one voice sneaks above; screaming its opinion on love
When my luck is running low; when there's nowhere else to go
I plunge down this darkened street; fully aware of who I'll meet
It seems my mind loves the sight; so beautiful, my red lights
This song is for the lights
TO THE LIGHTS ON KENEDY AVENUE,
WHY WON'T YOU CHANGE?
WHY CAN'T I CHANGE?
