Why I don't want to watch Cinderella Man...
I know it is a movie I should see. I know that come March it will be one of the contenders for the Oscars. I know it is artistic. I still don't really feel like watching it. I think I am past the point where I watch movies because they are artistic. I kind of want something more from them. I want them to be one of two things other than well-made. I want them to be funny or I want them to be original. Do you know how many of last year's Oscar nominees I watched? I watched 2 out of 5. I watched Finding Neverland which was funny and an interesting story of a man very few people know anything about and I watched Sideways which was funny and featured Paul Giamatti one of the most original actors out there. I didn't watch Million Dollar Baby which seeed like a normal boxing movie (it wasn't but by the time I found about what made it different I didn't care). I didn't watch The Aviator which actually looks good based on a piece I saw a couple of weeks ago. And I did not watch Ray because it just did not seem interesting.
So what did I watch last year? I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I watched Garden State. I watched Napoleon Dynamite. I watched In America. They were all movies that few people knew about until they came out and made an impression.
So what movies am I waiting to see? I want to see Mysterious Skin. The hot twin from Eurotrip with that kid from 3rd Rock from the sun (one of the best comedies ever) in a wierd drama/Romance. I want to see March of the Penguins. A movie about Penguins as narrated by Morgan Freeman. Morgan Freeman has an awesome voice. I want to see Murderball. It is a movie aboutplaying rugby (the most violent sport out there) on wheelchairs. I want to see Night Watch. It is a foreign three-part horror/Sci-fi movie. It sounds cool. I want to see The Ringer. The movie where Johnny Knoxville pretends to be handicapped to join the special olympics. I've been waiting a long time for this movie because it looks funny. And finally I am waiting for Serenity. This is the movie I have been waiting for moer than Star Wars or even Hitchhikers (cause I wasn't sure whether it would be good or not). Based on Firefly, the best sci-fi series ever (since I didn't really like Star Trek) it is a Sci-fi/western movie. The series was funny and had good action moments. I shouldn't expect any less from the movie.
So those are the movies I really want to see this year. They look good in commercials and more importantly they look different in commercials. Something Cinderella Man has been unable to do. So unless Carlos tells me there is somethng really different from Cinderella Man that it is not just Seabuscuit in boxing then I'd rather watch The Longest Yard.

I like the movie Ray. Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind is one of my favorite movies. Napolean Dynamite too. Also, awesome, I didn't think anyone really knew about the movie Mysterious Skin.
I didnt watch seabiscuit, the longest yard is hilarious, and i thought mr and mrs smith was hilarious. Not like george carlin funny but funny nontheless. As to cinderlla man. I really enjoyed it but then again i really enjoy movies with one badass. The movie doesnt really revolve around what ren calls, "when america was on its knees" syndrome. Its more about a man not being able to feed his kids, and doing something . about it. This falls in no way under original, but it was well done, Russel Crowe is one of my favorite actors. I get really into the movies. I actually yelled stood up and swung in the middle of the movie without realizing what i was doing. Im also really tried right now so excuse my rambling comment. GTG BYE oh yah i didnt watch the aviator, cuz i have trouble beilieving anything decrapio does.
if you didn't watch Seabiscuit, you really don't know what i'm talking about. But cinderella man and Seabiscuit are essentially the same movie. one person or thing winning competitions and becoming an inspiration to a downtrodden america.
i dont need to watch seabiscuit to know what you are talking about. If you dont recall i was there when you saw a preview to Cinderlla man and i noticed why you complained. See deduction is something humans have been gifted with. So you stating its another seabiscuit "when america was on its knees" i figured it out. My point is the movie doesnt revolve around people on there knees and he doing something. It concentrated more on hey he coulndt feed his family. The movie didnt really give a rats ass about america
"The Depression era in American history sapped the energy of the middle-class and the poor who were forced to scrap their dreams of a better life and scramble for survival. Work was scarce and many lost all hope. Two stories lifted the spirits of ordinary people who yearned for icons of triumph in the face of staggering odds. One was the story of Seabiscuit, the little racehorse that could, and the other was the incredible story of Jim Braddock, a stubborn and strong-willed washed-up boxer whose comeback in the ring was called by sports writer Damon Runyon one of the great human interest stories of all time. Ron Howard has fashioned a soul-stirring tribute to this working-class hero, the pride of New Jersey and the hope of the Irish. He has drawn out a riveting and impressive performance from Russell Crowe as the boxer and given Paul Giamatti a juicy role as Braddock's trainer and manager that ought to win him a Best Supporting Actor nod. "Capturing the same rousing, Depression-era, hero-of-the-underclasses spirit that "Seabiscuit" did in 2003, "Cinderella Man" may be, in many ways, just another boxing movie (training montage here, point-of-view punches there, Big Fight finale), but it's one with an effectively and unabashedly uplifting emotional core."
--SPLICEDwire
"Of course, everyone is calling Cinderella Man this summer's Seabiscuit. Granted, the comparisons are numerous--underdog plot, the Great Depression, down-trodden men who need some kind of hope to get them back on their feet again, a nation rallying behind them."

see, i'm not alone on this, and these are all the positive reviews for the movie, I just don't want to watch the movie because I already saw seabiscuit. looks like your deduction skills aren't as good as the rest of ours.
Ren I know you hate to be called stupid but fucking shit, READD WHAT YOU FUCKING TYPE BEFORE YOU ANSWER. Here we go again... you typed “if you didn't watch Sea biscuit, you really don't know what I’m talking about." Then Cronus types “It concentrated more on hey he couldn’t feed his family. The movie didn’t really give a rat’s ass about America” Now yes there was hints of America gibberish, but it revolved more about HIM the character and struggle to feed his sick and hungry kids. I UNDERSTAND WHY YOU DON'T WANT TO WATCH THE MOVIE that is the part I deduced not the fact that there was similarities... and like your quotes states…”Of course, everyone is calling Cinderella Man this summer's Sea biscuit.” It does not seem you understood what I was talking about… Now mistakes happen but isn’t this like the 3141321 time you misinterpret?
Now when you watch a movie you can get whatever the hell you want from it... what I liked was the fact that HE COULDNT FEED HIS FAMILY… wait did I type that in previous comment too hmm yes. YOUR OPINION IS YOU DONT WANNA watch it mine is I liked it. You’re too quick to insult, and personally in my OPINION something which, you above all make blatant and are quick to get angry whenever any opposition strikes should understand OPINIONS. The fact that other people feel it is like sea biscuit means caca to me, b/c if you keep reading Kit Bowen’s review it also states this ” Their special brand of mojo made A Beautiful Mind, another rather staid biopic, the Oscar winner of 2001” Now staid is synonymous with dull. I liked a beautiful mind, and so did you so fuck kits opinion and as a matter of fact (cough cough HICK VOICE) I don’t know this here kit so I really don’t give a flying fuck what he thinks. End of that. Now I go eat… lastly I don’t care how you feel about the movie don’t watch it for all I care, Neto stated that unless I stated something other wise to how he felt about the movie he would go watch it, all I did was state I didn’t have anything otherwise but that I enjoyed it then I explained why. Now I don’t see what is wrong with that, and why I even bothered to take your comments into consideration for response. MAYBE more people should fight too and increase blog activity… poke poke checo. Just a thought. ;)
and i think seabiscuit should be turned into elmers glue.
cheers
im with the skinny madn
i feel tension in da air... julio cesar chavez yo digo que le parte su madre a este dude...

Understand that it is you who is misinterpreting, I'm just trying to get you to understand that they're the same movie. and yet you keep disagreeing with me. you keep thinking that its a movie about a man trying to feed his kids, even if you get whatever bullshit you get from the movie. Every movie tries to get an integral idea across. AND BOTH SEABISCUIT AND CINDERELLA MAN GAVE OUT THE SAME IDEA. And I have more people who can back me up on this, these are critics who've watched the movie, and shit, if It's going to take me to go get Ron fucking Howard to tell you that he we was trying to get a depression era feel good movie, but i don't need to. Because if you just read more reviews, EVERYONE compares it to Seabiscuit, because they're both the same movie. I'm sorry if you don't agree with it, but too bad. You lose.
Now why is it when you give sarcasm, and I give sarcasm back, its me being insulted? and then you have to result to angry posts?
"""""Neto stated that unless I stated something other wise to how he felt about the movie he would go watch it, all I did was state I didn’t have anything otherwise but that I enjoyed it then I explained why.""""" <--- anybody else read this or did i not say they had Similarities. Now ill also state this b/c you cant it slipped by you... you say i have no idea what im talking about b/c i havnt seen the horse movie, when you havnt seen cinderella man....I also stated..."Now when you watch a movie you can get whatever the hell you want from it... what I liked was the fact that HE COULDNT FEED HIS FAMILY" Im confused as to why your still typing stupid shit after last thing i posted. Or are you going to argue that when you watch a movie you get one thing from it and everybody only gets the same one thing ?? Similirly when you hear Bush say something do you not feel one way and somebody else another?? Or are you arguing the fact of how i felt about a movie? B/c if your arguing about how i feel about the movie, ill let you know right now no matter what you do it wont change? Plz pick one.
On a side note, i beileve this post has generated most comments in blogs history. Chaching
just to add another comment here i would like to state that...Ren for someone who highly values the originality of his ideas and interpretation of art ie."music, movies" you sure are putting a hell of alot of value on other people's opinion.

Because if i just keep telling him that its a depression era inspiration movie, he's just going to reply with "its about a man not being able to feed his kids". This isn't really the whole "originality" thing as you so say it, its more referencing, you see it a lot in the science field. Remember when ms. tipton would make you write that annoying research paper and you had to put in that bibliography in the back? It's kind of the same thing. And even in art will you see people referencing other people's ideas. I saw that when I went to virginia. A girl was presenting her research over contemporary mexican art. It was still her original idea, but she still had sources and references.
and carlos, it IS a depression era inspiration movie.
If i am not mistaken, this comment has generate most comments!! Hip Hip Hooray, and ren a movie can be whatever the hell i want it to be. NEENER NEENER NEEENER.
