MAKE BELIEVE You Like It...

I know some of you don't really care about my thoughts on music but I have to let this out and talking to myself got old when referring to myself as "self" stoped being funny.

As you may or may not know Weezer is my favorite band. They released two almost perfect albums (BLUE and PINKERTON) that pretty much got me into my present state of being musically and otherwise. Then they released two so-so albums and a new one that may be above so-so but nowhere near the artistry of those that came before. So is it unfair to criticize a once great artist for his latter day crimes? I mean especially when the artist is disillusioned by the fact that his best album was treated like shite for being different before becoming universally loved as people started taking second and third listens.

Did you know that Rolling Stone called Pinkerton one of the worst albums of 1996 then in 2002 readers of Rolling Stone voted it the 16th best album of all time? I'm not saying that Rolling Stone's opinion counts for anything other than for trendiness but this is just an example of what everybody did to this album. When it was released it didn't make any waves but now few "serious" indie-rock enthusiasts exist who don't have it as one of their faves.

Maybe now they are afraid of doing anything different. Maybe now they are confused by the mixed reaction the people seem to give EVERYTHING they put out. Maybe MAKE BELIEVE, their new album, isn't as bad as everybody seems to think it is. "Pardon Me" is a great song and just so you know "Beverly Hills" is supposed to be ironic. Jesus Christ can you think of many other bads that make an entirely sarcastic song!?!?

PS. Weezer is still my favorite band.

You go Neto,

I too have heard this album (we bought this album before I left) and I believe if it was a good album. I was just disilusioned by the fact that Rolling Stone and Alternative Press were all like "OMG dude this is like the greatest album in Weezer's lifetime OMG dude OMG :masturbates:" The last people I trust for music are Rolling Stone and Alternative Press, because...well they have shite for brains when it comes to music.
