Controversial Issue Number 64, videogames (see what i did there?!)
Sometime in the near( or far) future I plan on buying a next-gen console. My problem, and a huge problem at that is that I still cannot decide what console to obtain. The PS3 is completely out of the question due to the overall douchebagerry that comes with it. People who bought it are douchebags (exceptions are joey and carl), people who designed it are douche bags, and people who even support blu-ray are douchebags. Fuck you Disney. So basically my conflict is between the Xbox 360 and the Wii. I love both systems equally, but for entirely different reasons...well not really...they both just have really awesome games. Another thing is that both have serious flaws.
Let us begin:
The wii has a lot of things going for it, I mean, Super Mario Galaxy has come out and has been revered as one of the best games of the year. We also have Resident Evil 4 which has been rereleased (hehe, rere) on the Wii, paper mario, Metroid prime 3 corruption, Zack and Wiki, Medal of honor: Heroes 2, and countless virtual console games.
Guitar Hero III has also come out for the Wii but that has also come out for the Xbox.
Now, the Xbox has a lot of things going for it too, most notably, one game, which stands above all others right now, Assasins Creed. I've been following this game's progress since it was first moved from the PS3. It also helped that they put that slutty Jade Raymond ho to be the spokeswoman for the game.

This game looks so fucking amazing, the things you could do on this game look fucking amazing, the world looks fucking awesome, and the fact that you can interact with almost all of it is amazing. The Xbox also has a lot of games going for it as well. Such as the Orange Box, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Rainbow Six: Vegas, and Eternal Sonata. Also if any of you fuckers mention Halo 3 I will personally go to your apartment and rip off your larynx. I fucking hate Halo.
Anyway, both the Wii and the 360 have serious flaws, as mentioned.
The Xbox has some weird thing going on with its graphics. I don't know if I need to buy the Xbox 360 Elite which costs 500 dollars to get good graphics, or do I get good graphics with the core system that is worth 250? Another thing is all or most of the games for the 360 are a bunch of FPS's and crappy EA sports games. First of all I haaate FPSs on console. I haven't played many FPS on a console in a while, but generally, when I do, its still the same experience. The controls suck, the movement is boring and slow, and its generally a shitty experience that I don't want to play. Also, a lot of the great games for the xbox are pretty much better games for the PC, bioshock, Orange Box, Call of Duty, can be played on the PC and I don't have to worry about the shitty FPS on Console experience.
My problem with Wii is its games. A lot of third party developers claim to be excited about the wii, yet, none of the games that have come out for it, save a substantial first party games, are that good. A lot of them are either gimicky or a bunch of minigames. Granted some of the minigame...er..games are alright and pretty damn fun. They can get tired and boring afterwards. I need something i can enjoy and can continue to enjoy, not something that only speaks to the "casual gamer" or whateverthefuck.
Anyway, someone help me choose what to get, because I can't decide.

This is a hard one. And its hard for me to admit. But right now I would get an Xbox.
I really like Nintendo and what they're doing. I want to play the new mario and zelda.
But the games I am more excited about are all on the 360.
Assasins Creed
Orange Box
Bioshock
Not to mention GTA IV sometime next year.
And I understand that most of those gays will be available for the PC if not already but it will cost me a lot of money to upgrade my PC to be able to play them.
The Xbox 360 has at least 3 years of life left while if I upgrade my PC to Bioshock levels I can only guarantee myself 2.
I would get the Xbox 360 and then get the Wii later.
First off you want a system that will consistently give you good games. In this case the XBOX is by far the best choice for gaming.
The Wii is fricking awesome, dont get me wrong, I own both systems and the Wii is great for get togethers and some solo play (Metroid, SSB, Zelda, etc), but it lacks the graphical prowess of the Xbox. That is what may lead most developers to create games intended for a more powerful system. The Wii is a bit of an upgrade from the Gamecube.
Now Halo is THE flagship for Xbox, its a great game, however much you want to flame it, it has basically redefined the way FPS are played (forge, theater, ranking systems, etc) and most games for the Xbox try to mimic the possibilities of using its hard drive to create better gaming experiences.
Assasins Creed is awesome, Eternal Sonata is great and Bioshock is uber, but all of those are better played on a system that can handle such demand. In the long run, the Wii falls short.
I would get a 360 because of the current games and the upcoming ones, its hard drive and its versatility for online play (if you have Xbox Live). The only drawback is that every peripherals costs a shit ton of money to get.
Now the PS3 is a great system as well that has had horrible rep from people just gay bashing it without letting the person decide for themselves. My dad got one, and its an overall great product, its graphics are amazing, more than the 360s, but the games it has suck ass. Save for Heavenly Sword and well Assasins Creed. But they are getting the new batch of Final Fantasy games that are pushing this system to its limit. My only issue with the PS3 is its lack of ram and having more loading times.
But meh, thats my opinion, I'd get a 360 and get some games. Oh and Xbox Live arcade is fun. Hope this was useful.
cheers
For the record let me just say that Fredo's dad is not a douchebag, and I will be adding him to my list of exceptions of people who buy PS3s. Fredo's dad is one of the most badass people I've ever met, bar none. But that is all, everyone else is a douchebag! you know who you are!
Anyway, Halo 3 didn't redefine shit. When you compare it to other great games like Bioshock, which did redefine the FPS you can see the crappy game it really is. But that's my opinion. As for the xbox, itself, I want to play Orange Box and Bioshock, and Assasin's Creed and all the other awesome games that come with it, but am not sure if i'll regret it in the long run. I'm not sure if the Wii will come out with awesomer games next year and the Xbox will flop and i'll be stuck with a system that I only play like once a month.
As for the PS3, even games like Heavenly Sword don't really appeal to me, like, i was watching the commercial for it, and two things struck me immediately. The first one was when the red headed twat was doing some flip into the superfluous amount of villains and what do they show? a panty flash. After that she kills a couple folks and she says "Vengeance has never been so beautiful". Which strikes me as corny, crappy writing". So really I feel like heavenly sword isn't calling out to me but the lonely 15 year old high school kid that's angry at his parents and jerks off over his collection of dead or alive "action figures".
I fucking hate the PS3 because it tries nothing new, it just continues the old formula and if it does try something different its already been done before, usually by ninty.
Let me rephrase the Halo deal there. It redefined the FPS by putting features that other FPS lacked. Score a badass kill in Halo 3 and you can relive it in different angles showing your uber prowess. Nevertheless you are right, Bioshock did revolutionize the formula by a lot and its a great game.
I see why Heavenly Sword does not appeal, yeah its corny and all, but its a re-do of the Devil May Cry formula, which in turn is a repeat of side scrolling hack and slash games. Its one of the better games out there. Sincerely my brother has only bought 1 game for the PS3 and it was the Marvel Rise of the Imperfects game which was pretty meh.
For the Wii yeah you may be right. There are but 2 games I really wish to play, SS Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy; both have gotten great reviews btw.
But needless to say, for the price the Wii is good, has WiFi and Miis and all that junk with alright games that appease a more general crowd, mainly kids. The 360 appeases to a more mature audience with its broad range of games, most notably FPS or third person hack and slash puzzle games.
The PS3 is just there with nothing to back it up, hopefully the FF Versus XIII will be a game that can generate enough hype to boost its sales. But if I was given the choice, I would go for the Xbox because it has the best rated games of the year so far Mass Effect, Halo 3, Assassins Creed, Eternal Sonata, Guitar Hero 2/3, etc.
cheers
There is one huge difference between the 360 and the Wii. High Definition.
More importantly, there are a lot more Original IPs both available and scheduled for release for the 360. Among them Mass are Effect, Assassin's Creed, Halo3, Bioshock, Oblivion etc.
Also, the 360 plays dvds.
These factors alone (and the fact that I own both and greatly prefer the 360 because it just looks SO much better) are the reasons I recommend a 360.
Also, don't totally discount the PS3, it has several PS3 only games that I think may make it a tempting alternative... that is unless you acknowledge that Sony is the root of all evil in Video Gaming.
Which it is.
:) I say XBOX I bought a used one at GameStop about two months ago, and i absolutly love it. The games are fun the gameplay is funner and xbox live owns. Plus if you get an XboX we all have xboxs and can play with each other. Which makes gaming even more fun when i get to play with my friends. The XboX Live Acarde is a blast. I bought Street Fighter and when im reallly bored and only have about 3 minutes to play something it comes in handy. Halo 3 is a badass game only thing shitty is all the little kids that play the game ALL The TIME and feel big talking shit on a microphone thousands of miles away. Since i bought my xbox i have enjoyed playing Gears of War with Joey. Which was fun as hell. BioShoock consisted of me playing and my roomate watching me play for hours. Which again was a blast. Halo 3 well i played this game and beat it in one day. GUitar Hero 3 is a blast except for one song on hard i cant beat and its really really pissing me off, and definately as soon as i get a little extra cass im buying call of duty 4 and assasins creed. Alll these games in the matter of TWO months that i have owned the XBOX. We had teh Wii with Marcus longer than that when i lived in kingsville and i didnt play it as long as i have played the XBoX. Granted the Wii was fun as hellllllllllllllllll the first tiem we all sat in a room and dinked with the Tennis Game i have spent many more hours enjoying the XBoX. Does anybody else feel like im rambeling. I just woke up my head kinda hurts but fuck it.
HAPPY ThanksGIVING. Im ON MY WAY TO BROWNSVILLE. Wanna go to a party?? Its in your mouth and everybodies comming!!!!
