Don't Lose Touch = Nausea
So.
I just saw Against Me! on Conan O'Brien, and I must say that it was very, well...boring. They had no energy, which is understandable, and i'm really not sure why they are pushing Don't Lose Touch. They could push Problems, its a much better song. And Tom edited his lyrics. Lame. No i don't think they've sold out like some elitists believe, I just didn't like the song choice they made. I was excited until i heard the opening bass line to the song. And then Tom started doing that kicking thing.
They should've done Miami, unedited. It would've rocked. They looked so out of place, though. It was awesome. I love Against Me!, but i hate their videos and tv performances. Who's going with me to see them in Austin in November????

SELL OUTS!!!!!!!!
Why don't you like Don't lose touch? It's the main idea that they are trying to push in their album. You said it yourself that they were angry at their eltist fans for calling them sell outs, Which I can't even seem to still understand. I mean, they STAYED in the indie label didn't they? So they were considering going to Universal, but in the end they stayed in Fat Wreck. What's the big fucking deal? And So Fat Wreck is a bigger indie label than most Indie labels, what makes an indie label and indie label? First of all, if you look up in Wikipedia for a list of independant record labels, you see that Fat Wreck still falls under and indie label, and if you look up an Indie label in Wikipedia, you will see:
"An independent record label is a record label operating without the funding of one of the major record labels. The boundaries between major and independent labels are quite blurred in practice. Some independent record labels, in particular those with successful performing artists, receive funding from major labels, and many independent labels often rely to some extent on international licensing deals, distribution agreements, and other arrangements with major record labels. Major labels may also wholly acquire independent labels.
Independent labels have been in existence for almost as long as there has been a market for recorded music. Even as the music industry has become more centralised, independent labels have continued to be a significant, if small, part of the overall market. In a number of cases, independent labels have assembled rosters of recording artists that rival those of the majors. The 1960s and 1980s are regarded as having been particularly fruitful periods for independent labels."
I'm pretty sure fat wreck doesn't receive funding from any major record labels, or doesn't do anything shady.
So once again, why are these people complaining? Their music continues to be inspired, of course, not every song will be liked in an album, every once in a while you will find a band that produces albums that you like every song in. i.e. coheed for me. But you can still see that they still put a lot of effort into their music.
As for them pushing Don't lose touch, I repeat, that's the main Idea that they want to push, they want to push that they're tired of elitists trying to push this bullshit idea of selling out on bands who are still trying hard to put out inspired music.
The Term Sellout still exists in today's society, its just a lot of those idiots really don't know what it means.
yeh, i just don't like the song. lyrics are fine, i know they're pissed, i'm not so happy that they're dedicating so many songs to being pissed off at fans instead of just ignoring them, but overall i just don't like the music in Don't Lose Touch. its just blah to me.
jejeje I love creating dissension among the ranks
I just wanted to start a good ol' debate, been a while since we had a good one.
