Confessions...

There are a lot of groups I don't consider myself part of even if I show the classic signs. I don not consider myself a flat out liberal. I agree with Chris Rock that if you vote for a guy because he is a democrat or a republican then you are a "fucking idiot". I do not consider myself to be "anti-Microsoft" even if I think the Bill Gates is more of an opportunist than an innovator. But I do consider myself one thing. I am a full blown Nintendo fanboy. I think everything Nintendo puts out is great. I think every system has been better than the last. I think their controllers are the ones that all other controllers copy off of. And if I ever meet Miyamoto (creator of Mario and Zelda) I will cream my pants. So I admit bias as I type out my next sentence. The controller for the next Nintendo system is the greatest innovation in console gaming since Mario 64 introduced a full 3d world.I know what you are thinking. It is the first thing Ren said to me after seeing the pictures. It is one of the only things the "haters" have been able to complain about. You are thinking "it looks like a TV remote." See I told you I knew. But its not how it looks that matters it is how it works. And this is the really great part. It is like a 3d mouse. It can sense how you are moving the controller. But not just like a mouse but also up and down. Think of it like the guns used in the old shooting games like Lethal enforcers. But unlike those it can also sense when you move it closer to the screen or away from the screen. Are you seeing what I am talking about? This will change the way people play videogames. "But what if the developers don't want to change the way we play videogames?" you ask. "What if those unimaginative tools want to make games that control more like the other systems do?" Well this control comes with an attachment.

There you go. That kind of looks like a Gamecube controller. And that's just one of the attachments. According to Iwata (Nintendo president) there will be more. Just imagine the possibilities cause I can't. Nintendo has blown my mind already.

A couple of interesting notes. If you flip the main controller 90 degrees it looks kind of like an original Nintendo controller. Maybe this is so that it can be used for the old Nintendo games. According to Iwata there is going to be an online service so that you can buy and download every Nintendo game ever made and quite possibly every game made for any Nintendo system period. Also Iwata said in a recent interview that the new Zelda would be the last Zelda game to use the same control scheme as the Nintendo 64 version. He said that they would change to a brand new controller experience for the Zelda games after that. Can you imagine using this controller as a sword and swinging at enemies? Just awesome!

My name is Neto Regalado and I am a Nintendo fanboy.

P.S. For a hands-on review of the controller and a couple more pictures read the IGN Hands-On article here:
